Platoon Forward (Operation Overlord) - Cast and Crew
Below are the combatants we're following for our next Chain of Command campaign - this time using Joe Legan's Platoon Forward (with Grunts Forward as well) campaign system! I've used his Squadron Forward a number of times for my Bag the Hun campaigns, so I'm excited to use this system for some cooperative Chain of Command with my wife as we follow this British 1944 platoon. This platoon will fight for the duration of the campaign with no definitive end, simply as a campaign we can pick up and put down as we please. It'll focus on a platoon within the fictional 5th Wessex (see Alexander Baron's From the City, From the Plow) during their invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
Leftenant Wilfred "Will" McElveen, leading the platoon is a 26 year old pessimistic officer clearly upset about his barely passable marks during infantry officer school. He's not well thought of by his men and though he's clearly attempting to prove his worth, he manages to keep an even keel when the firing begins.
Sergeant James Clavell, the leftenant's right hand man, is a 32 years old NCO. He's deeply interested in the technical side of machinery, perhaps wishing he could command a tank. As an infantryman, however, he's sensible, sharp, if perhaps a little over-cautious at times.
Corporal Brian McHugh, in charge of the 1st Section, is a jovial, steady section leader of a 23 years, with a musical background, as he enjoys cheering up the boys with a bit of mouth-organ tunes.
Corporal Boris Brown, in the lead of the 2nd Section, is a equal likeable and by far the oldest man in the platoon at 39 years of age. He's known for his love of food and has a knack for scrounging vast quantities to satiate his oversized diet.
Corporal Robert Smith, leading the 3rd and final Section, is easily the least liked and least competent of the section leaders. He's too fond of the drink, seen as a brown-noser to the brass, and is reckless with the lives of his men.
